About Tea in Yamanashi Prefecture
Yamanashi Prefecture is located in central Honshu, forming a basin surrounded by mountains over 3,000 meters high, including the Southern Alps, Mount Fuji, and the Yatsugatake range. It boasts some of Japan’s highest levels of sunshine, characterized by an inland climate with hot summers and cold winters.
In Nanbu Town, the southernmost and lowest-elevation area of the prefecture, branded teas like “Nanbu Tea” and “Kai no Midori” are produced.
Tea cultivated in this environment is characterized by a gentle aroma and a soft, sweet flavor.
