About Tea In Aichi Prefecture
Aichi Prefecture is located almost in the center of the Japanese archipelago. The Nobi and Higashi-Mikawa plains stretch across the northwestern part of the prefecture, while the Mikawa Mountains run through the eastern region. The southern part of the prefecture overlooks Ise Bay and Mikawa Bay, making it an area surrounded by both sea and mountains.
Matcha produced in Nishio City, in the Nishi-Mikawa region of central-southern Aichi, is renowned nationwide for its deep green color and rich umami flavor. In addition, a diverse range of teas are cultivated here, including Kabuse-cha from Toyota City, Shinshiro-cha from the Shinshiro and Okumikawa regions, and Asuke-kancha, which is harvested in winter.
