About Tea In Gunma Prefecture
Gunma Prefecture is an inland prefecture where mountains and hills cover approximately 85% of its land area. In the southeastern part of the prefecture lies the Maebashi-Takasaki Plateau, which marks the northernmost tip of the Kanto Plain, while the northwestern region features a mountainous area with peaks reaching over 2,000 meters.
Within the prefecture, teas such as “Umeda-cha” from Kiryu City and “Komochi-cha” from Shibukawa City are produced, primarily in the mountainous regions.
