About Tea In Aomori Prefecture
Aomori Prefecture is divided into eastern and western regions by the Ou Mountains, with distinct topography and climates on each side; the Tsugaru Plain lies to the west, while the Nanbu Plateau stretches to the east.
Aomori Prefecture is considered the northernmost practical limit for tea cultivation, and while tea is rarely found in general circulation, it is known for its rare “Kuroishi Tea,” which boasts a tradition dating back to the Edo period.
