About Tea In Fukuoka Prefecture

Fukuoka Prefecture is located in northern Kyushu, with an urban area spreading across its central region and plains and mountainous areas surrounding it.

The prefecture is known as one of Japan’s leading tea-producing regions, and its tea is particularly well-known under the name “Yame-cha.” It is a major producer of gyokuro and is also renowned as a source of traditional Hon-gyokuro.
