About Tea In Kagawa Prefecture
Kagawa Prefecture is Japan’s smallest prefecture by area, featuring the Sanuki Mountains in the south, plains in the north, and numerous islands in the Seto Inland Sea.
Tea cultivation in Kagawa Prefecture has a long history, said to have begun under Lord Matsudaira Yorishige, the first feudal lord of the Takamatsu Domain. The region is known for “Takase Tea,” which is primarily grown in Takase Town and Mannou Town in the southwestern part of the prefecture.
