About Tea In Tochigi Prefecture
Tochigi is an inland prefecture located in the northern part of the Kanto region, near the center of Honshu. It is characterized by a continental climate, with hot summers and bitterly cold winters.
It is known as one of the northernmost tea-producing regions, home to “Kurobe Tea” (Otawara City), a tradition dating back to the Muromachi period. Additionally, “Kanuma Tea” and “Itaga Tea,” cultivated in the Itaga district of Kanuma City, are also produced there.
